PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT.
Prior to establishing my private practice, I worked for several years at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT.
I also have worked with clients at Fairfield Counseling Service, a community mental health agency, and Westport House & Clearpoint Recovery Center. Where I worked with young men in their first 12 months of recovery from substance abuse.
I have taught classes and supervised graduate students in the clinical mental health program at Fairfield University.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND:
I believe therapists’ life experiences help us to understand our clients and their issues.
In my 20s, for example, I had my own struggles with college and recovery from substance abuse.
Before I became a therapist, my business career went from working as a junior research assistant in a laboratory to heading up the U.S. operations of a multinational Australian pharmaceutical company.
I have lived in three different countries and traveled extensively.
I have navigated the challenges of a long marriage and of parenting two boys who have grown into successful young men.
In addition to my training in counseling I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Melbourne University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New South Wales, both in Australia.
My wife and I live in New Canaan with a Miniature Dachshund, a Maine Coon Cat, and three parrots.
My hobbies include creative mask-making, meditation and working out at the local YMCA.
